Nomination Criteria Description:
Richard Mimeau played his first game of Broomball on an outdoor rink in the winter of 1978, since then the sport has been very close to his heart.
At the provincial level, for the past 30 years, Richard has been involved and engaged in the organization of several leagues, tournaments and major provincial championships in the last 30 years. He has participated in more than thirty provincial championships as a player and coach with teams such as: Coco-Boys, Vikings, Elite Assumption (BMR), the Pogos the Frost, and the Kaméléons Quest. He was a member of the Quebec Federation of Broomball (FQBG) for 13 years, from 1996 to 2009. He respectively served as Secretary, Vice-President and President. He was an instigator of the major reforms introduced in the early 2000's to the FQBG. He started the program to "Help the Next Generation", to increase the number of youth teams, members, referees and coaches. It has improved communication between members and the Board of Directors of the FQBG. He developed the relationship between the department of officials and the FQBG. He worked to increase the share of government funding towards FQBG. It involved the private sector in the financing of FQBG to invest in the development of juvenile categories. He has participated in several general meetings of the CBF where he helped develop the plan Broomball Canada. It has strategically positioned FQBG in Canada and increased its impact on the national level.
At the national level, he participated and was medalist in 14 national championships as a player, coach and manager with teams such as: Elite Assumption (BMR), the Quest, Pogos the Kaméléons and Frost. He also served as Vice President for a term with the CBF Executive from 2007 to 2009. He worked on the Sport Canada funding, reform of the H.O.F. criteria and and protocol application of the championships. He has been a leader in inter-provincial harmonizing relations between the provinces and helping them gather around the CBF. He has collaborated in organizing the championships of 2002 (Mixed and youth), 2004, 2008 and 2011 (Adult).
At the global level, he participated in four World Championships (3 gold medals and one silver), a sports clinic in 2005 in Germany and two exhibition matches in 2010 in Slovenia.
Richard Mimeau has been removed from broomball for 2 years after serving more than 15 years on the boards of the FQBG and CBF as a director. He also gave more than 20 years of volunteer service to our sport! With all these accomplishments, Mr. Richard Mimeau deserves to be named to the Hall of Fame of the Canadian Federation of Broomball in Class Award of Merit.
Richard Mimeau has been removed from broomball for 2 years after serving over 15 years on the boards of the FQBG and CBF as a director, he also gave over 20 years of volunteering in our sport! With all these achievements, Mr. Richard Mimeau deserves to be named to the Hall of Fame of the Canadian Federation of Broomball in Class Award of Merit.
