Darryl Campbell
2012 - Athlete - Stratford, ON

Nomination Criteria Description:

Darrell was the most complete player that most have ever witnessed, and in the words of his long-time coach, Willie Montgomery, Darrell was something special. He had great talent with extraordinary leadership qualities and unmatched intelligence when it came to analyzing both his own teams and their opposition. He led by example on the ice, and helped to guide his teammates.

Darrell competed at 14 National Championships with the Embrun Plumbing Men’s Elite team from 1979 through to 1996. He strayed away from the sport when his children were very young, or he would have without doubt performed at more Nationals.
His teams captured ten (10) Gold Medals; three (3) Silver Medals; and one (1) Bronze Medal at Canadian National Championships with Sunlife, Cornwall Poppe Shoppe, Free Enterprise and Embrun Plumbing teams.

Darrell was the recipient of numerous All-Star and Team Awards through his illustrious career.  He was one of the most respected players both on and off the ice ever.

Darrell Campbell was inducted into the Ontario Broomball Hall of Fame in 2000.
