Brian Klenk (SK)
2009 - Builder - Saskatoon, SK
Nomination Criteria Description:
Brian Klenk has been involved with the game of broomball in almost every possible way. He has been a player, an official, a volunteer and an executive member not only at the SBA level, but also with the CBF. While Brian was one of the top players in the country, he was also one of the top officials. He has attended many Nationals in both roles. He served as the Referee-in-Chief of Canada from 1995 – 1998, before moving on to be the Vice President of Technical from September 1998 to 2000.
Brian provided great knowledge and insight to the game and always foresaw changes that would help the game to progress. This was best shown when Brian developed the first officials program for the CBF. Brian was also one of the key persons involved with getting the first ever Junior National event off of the ground.
At the Provincial level Brian has served on the SBA Executive in almost every position over the years. He has served as President, Junior Chairperson, Technical Chairperson, Officials Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer. He has made significant contributions to many aspects of the Technical programs that
Brian gave an unprecedented amount of time to the game at both the Provincial and National level. He officiated many nights a week locally when he wasn’t playing, you could always find him at the Provincial events and tournaments helping out in some way in Saskatchewan, and many would have seen Brian on the ice involved as a player or official at the Nationals or in the Board room as a SBA delegate or CBF Executive member.
